Potpourri, aromatherapy, and essential oils all come to mind when I think of a sweet aroma. In my years in the spa industry, the thing I most enjoyed was the aromas. There is something beautiful and intoxicating about pure essential oils. I can almost smell them now. When we walk through a spa or even a store that permeates with beautiful essential oils, we naturally want to stop and breath in. Paul, in Ephesians, describes walking in love as an offering and sacrifice to God. He gives the great description that it is a sweet-smelling aroma to God. It is clear that God too, enjoys beautiful aromas. He, all through scripture, describes burnt offerings as a sweet-smelling aroma. But here in the new testament, we see walking in love described as a sweet-smelling aroma. I knew aromatherapy was no new invention, it truly originated long ago for God's glory. If we walk in love, we will not only be pleasing to God, but also to those around us. We'll make everyone who comes within a breathable distance of us want to stop and breath in.
Create a sweet-smelling aroma in your home, add a few drops of Peppermint Essential Oil or your favorite essential oil to a tart warmer or a simmering pot of water. As your home permeates with a beautiful aroma, let it be a reminder to you to walk in love.
Ephesians 5:2 "And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma."
